Objective: To create a link in the Chrome browser for sending a webpage by email.

Step 1)  Launch Google Chrome.

Step 2)  Right-click the Bookmarks bar and select “Add Page”. Figure 1.

Step 3) In the Name textbox, input the word Send Link. Figure 2.

Step 4) In the URL textbox, input the following (Figure 3):

javascript:location.href=’mailto: SUBJECT=’+document.title+’&BODY=’+escape(location.href);

Step 5) Make sure that the Bookmarks bar folder is selected and click OK. Figure 4.

Step 5) Press the newly created “Send Link” button on the bookmark bar to use the feature. Figure 5.

Objective: View pdf files using the Google Chrome browser.

Step 1 ) Close Adobe Reader verison 8, if open. Note: Instructions if needed: http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/8to9/

Step 2) Install verison 9 of adobe reader. Note: If you get a 1402 permissions registry related error, change the permission on the parent folder in the registry to “Everyone”.

End – Chrome should now open pdf files in the browser.

Objective:  Remove a thumbnail on Chromes start page.

1. Open a new window or tab in Chrome.
2. In the lower left hand corner, click the link that says “Remove a thumbnail”
3. You will see options to delete eash thumbnail.
4. Remove the thumbnail that you no longer want to appear.

Some Takeways from the post:

1. Install the developer-channel version of Google Chrome. I don’t know if this is 100% necessary, but new support for plugins will probably show up in the developer version first. You can read instructions onhow to switch to the developer version.

2. Read the initial documentation. This is a brand-new feature, but you can already start hacking. Extensions currently have very Greasemonkey-like functionality: you identify which web pages should be modified, plus JavaScript to be added to those pages

- Bundling your extension directory into a “.crx” Chrome Extension file is as simple as running a shortPython script.

3. Try it out! If you’re running the developer version of Chrome, you can install the “hello world” plugin from the extension howto page just by clicking to download the .crx file. Then type “chrome-ui://extensions/” and you’ll see something like this:

• One more nice thing: it looks like installing extensions doesn’t require you to restart the browser

The best thing about this new beta is speed — it’s 25% faster on our V8 benchmark and 35% faster on the Sunspider benchmark than the current stable channel version and almost twice as fast when compared to our original beta version.
