Googles reaches into traditional and offline advertising markets.

Google seems to be spending a lot of time and money building its Marketing services, the search engine company has made several moves toward advertising in traditional marketing channels. For example, the Google Adwords program allows marketers to advertise on cell phones.

Theres the AdWords Radio and TV advertising thats currently in Beta. We have been invited to test this system and have not yet begun. This portion of the system will allow users to create their own radio ads and sell them using the same format used for SEM. Meaning small business owners with conservative budgets will have access to radio advertising.

“Google is committed to exploring new ways to extend targeted, measurable advertising to other forms of media,” said Tim Armstrong, vice president of Advertising Sales, Google. ”

Google has also has ventured into print advertising brokering deals with Newspaper advertisers to offer print ads.

There is also the patent that Google filed for an electronic bulletin board.

All of these forms of advertising are available without AdWords and have been for sometime however, AdWords offers the small business owner more flexibility in terms of budget. You dont need to have a large budget to advertise along side the large businesses. The AdWords online interface also allows complete control over timing and scheduling of your campaign as apposed to having to wait on someone else to take your campaign live.
