YouTube meets Pay Per Click Advertising II - Video Ad units in Wordpress and tracking

Filed under: AdWords, Google — Kyle M Brown @ 12:00 am

My previous post covered the new Video Adsense Units. Here are a few problems I encountered using the new Video AdSense Units:

1.There was an issue when trying to use code provided by Google in Wordpress blogs. The code contains Javascript which when pasted into a WordPress blog would only display the alternate text for the video "Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com", which links back to the YouTube browse page and not to any specific video.

There are two plugins already that will help address the Javascript in WordPress and correct the problem:
First This solution worked.
Second This solution also works and suggest fixes for jumbled text that may be experienced following installation of the plugin

The result is the video as follows:

2. At time of this writing, tracking of the video units performance is not explained anywhere that I could find. Searching Googles Adsense help files and contacting their support team has turned up no answers.

What I did find while researching this, is that some point after creating the video, a channel was created "Video Units". At this point it appears to be accurate. I'm just surprised that this was not mentioned in any documentation about the ads. Considering that tracking is important.
