Cache date of a page is as important as PageRank

Cache Date as the New Google PageRank. Aaron’s posted a short piece on his blog . What I found interesting about this, is its rarely referred to as being important. My feeling is that the cache dates value is underrated because its an indication of the websites health.

Given Google’s reliance on core domain authority and displaying outdated PageRank scores, cache date is a much better measure of the authority of a particular page or site than PageRank is.

For example a website that always has recently cached pages shows that the website is updated on a regular basis. This may not prove that the quality of the content is any good but it does show that the website is a living thing with every changing content, which Google likes.

Maybe its just that so much emphasis is placed on PageRank, which is important, but the one important thing to note is that the PageRank could be good one day and bad on another (depending on Google updates and how frequently the pages are check). The Cache Date on the other hand tells you instantly how often content is added or changed on a website, which once again is an indicator of health.
