Google is learning to read words inside of videos

Google announced that they have developed a method of reading the audio contained inside of Videos and it is now available. They acknowledge that the technology is a work in progress but what they have to date is impressive.

The Google Video Gadget can query videos based on a search term and bring the user to the exact points in the video where the query plays. These areas are identified in the movies time line and the user can roll their mouse over the section and see a popup of the text.

Currently, this gadget will only work with the Political Channel on YouTube. Considering todays climate, thats a good place to launch. Maybe one day politicians will actually have to stop denying when they have said something wrong. Probably not. Lol.
